Today, it’s July 4, 2018. And two days ago, it was Monday, July 2.
Why are those dates significant to me? Why do I point them out?
Well, on the fourth of July, we Americans celebrate our Independence from Great Britain. It’s a significant day in the history of our country.
So, it seems appropriate that we freelancers claim that date to celebrate our own independence, or at least our progress toward it.
And July 2?
The second day in July is the 183rd day in our calendar. It’s the midpoint of our year. And, it was a good date to sit back and evaluate the journey so far… and to plan for the future.
So, I did.
I looked up some quotes on progress, and I’d like to share them with you. Then, we’ll take a look at my progress toward my business goals this year… and make plans for the future.
George Bernard Shaw explained, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
So as I evaluated my copywriting business, I had to be open to changes: in thinking, in action, and in goals.
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” Ben Franklin said that.
I have to agree.
That means I must continually look for ways to grow and move forward, even if those ways look uncomfortable at first.
And, American self-help author Napoleon Hill wrote, “Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.”
With these quotes — and a host of others in my notes — I set out to evaluate my copywriting business. I looked at:
- Where I am today.
- Where I want to be by year-end.
- What it’s going to take to get there.
Here’s what I found…
